Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Transcriber (“the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use our iOS application. The app transcribes voice messages you explicitly share into it.
Summary
Voice notes and transcripts are processed on your device using Apple’s Speech framework. We do not upload your voice notes to our servers. The free version of the app shows ads through Google AdMob, which may collect device and advertising-related information as described below.

How audio is processed
- You share a voice note from WhatsApp (or another app) to Transcribe Voice Note.
- The Share Extension copies the file into a shared App Group container on your device.
- The main app transcribes the file using Apple Speech on-device.
- If you enable Delete audio after success in Settings, the audio file is removed after a successful transcript.
- If you use Translate, Apple’s Translation framework may process text on-device per iOS behavior.
Your voice audio and transcript text are not sent to Google AdMob for advertising purposes.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Transcriber uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show advertisements, including:
- Interstitial ads (for example after a successful transcription, or before listening to audio in the app)
- Rewarded ads (for example to unlock optional translation)
Google and its partners may collect and process information such as your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, device and app information, and approximate location derived from IP, to serve, personalize, and measure ads. This processing is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob’s policies.
On iOS 14.5 and later, we may request permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing the advertising identifier for personalized ads. You can allow or deny tracking. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you deny tracking, you may still see ads that are less personalized (for example contextual or limited ads).
Where required (including in the EEA/UK and similar regions), we may also present a consent message (for example via Google’s User Messaging Platform) so you can choose how ads and related data are used.
Permissions
- Speech Recognition — required to convert speech to text on-device. Apple may process recognition according to your device language and iOS settings.
- Tracking (ATT) — optional; used to personalize ads if you allow it.
Third parties
Transcription does not send audio to OpenAI, Whisper, or other cloud transcription services. Translation, when used, is provided by Apple’s on-device Translation APIs.
Advertising is provided by Google AdMob and may involve Google’s advertising partners. See Google’s privacy policy linked above.
The app is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta. We do not access your WhatsApp account or messages directly.
Data retention
Transcripts and related local data remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes local app data. Advertising data retained by Google is subject to Google’s retention practices.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app includes advertising, it may not be appropriate for younger users.
Your choices
- Limit ad tracking via ATT and iOS Settings.
- Reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings.
- Delete transcripts or uninstall the app to remove local data.

Changes
We may update this policy when features change (for example advertising, consent tools, or optional cloud processing). Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
